Anki Mastery Course Review

Introduction

As a medical student, you probably have used or heard of Anki before. If you haven’t let me introduce you to a software that will change your studying game. This flashcard software has built-in spaced repetition and active recall that allows for maximum learning of flashcards.

It is popular among medical students and language learners. The algorithm allows you to continually see the material you are trying to learn over increments of time. This method basically ensures you won’t forget the information.

As amazing as this tool is, it can be difficult to use and leave you feeling frustrated. That is where the AnKing Anki Mastery course comes in. This course gives you a complete breakdown of everything you need to know to get started with Anki.

What Does the Course Consist of?

The Anki Mastery course consists of structured videos and text explaining the basics of anki to the more difficult and convoluted parts. This ranged from learning how the algorithm is set up to combat the forgetting curve to navigating different add-ons you receive with the course.

The course was extremely comprehensive and came with sample decks to follow along with the videos. This was helpful to put what you learned to use right away. If you are still having trouble the team is very responsive and accessible.

Under each lesson, there is a comment section where you can ask questions or leave comments. This allows you to see if your question has been answered already or helps someone else who may have the same question as you.

Was it Helpful for Me?

As someone who started using Anki during the MCAT era, I found this course helpful. Most of my knowledge of Anki came from YouTube and Reddit which gave me the basics I needed to use Anki.

As I entered medical school I found myself getting better with it through trial and error but I didn’t know all the advanced features yet. As I am approaching my second year and studying for STEP I decided to step up my game.

This course has furthered my knowledge of Anki and allowed me to use it much more seamlessly.

Is it Worth the Money?

The course is $119….. Which is a lot, especially for a student. Luckily they offer financial aid and payment programs and work with you if needed. I want to note that especially because you may feel discouraged from doing it after seeing the price but apply for it anyway.

If you cannot get yourself to do it, they also have a YouTube channel with a lot of free content on there. (https://youtu.be/AjdUxCnAXJw?si=NfPSwCO4mVDaz4hl) Other creators can also give you similar knowledge to the course. We linked our favorite here. (https://youtu.be/uLfczzq9z_8?si=RcXvI3OGtbTUMV0b)

Free Anki Flashcard Mini-Course

I wanted to add this section here quickly because this company also offers a “Creating High-Quality Flashcards” course which is free. This mini-course teaches you how to make quality flashcards that enhance your learning.

Creating good flashcards is just as important as the information you are learning because it can be the difference between spending 2 hours versus 4 hours on flashcards.

If you want to get a feel for how the Mastery Course is set up definitely take this one first.

Conclusion

Overall if you have the money or are willing to try to get financial aid the course is worth it. The organization, community aspect, and knowledge in this course wrap up everything you need to know about Anki into a pretty little bow.
